For two days in Dar es Salaam, the capital of Tanzania, I travelled with an outreach nurse who works for PASADA, a Non Government Organisation that offers free HIV testing, counselling and educational services.

A nurse may visit once a month, with a few medicines for nausea, some vitamins, maybe an electrolyte drink and a bag of rice. Small things that offer short term relief but no hope for recovery.
