In the north of Tanzania, a small centre called Haduma ya Walemavu offers Maasai children the chance to rehabilitate after undergoing operations for afflictions such as club feet, flurosis, and cerebal palsy.
Most of the children would call home a village many days walk away, where the living conditions make it impossible for healing to take place without the risk of infection. Some, however, are orphans, or have been abandoned by families with too many able bodied mouths to feed, let alone a disabled child who cannot help with the herd.
