Nicola’s photography career began in her native New Zealand, shooting features, portraits and covers for national magazines. She has traveled widely, including commissions to document the work of various charities in places such as Tanzania, East Timor, Uganda and Peru.
Nicola has been based in the UK since 2002, where she has been regularly commissioned to shoot the marketing imagery for feature films, such as The Inbetweeners Movie, Brideshead Revisited, and In The Loop. Clients include the BBC, ITV and HBO. Her background in reportage translates perfectly for working on a film set where one must unobtrusive yet prepared and fast when an opportunity presents itself.
She also produces imagery for posters and marketing, the 'specials' as they are called in the industry, with recent shoots being for The Inbetweeners, Great Expectations, and Hyde Park on Hudson starring Bill Murray.
Alongside she produces her own work for exhibition, with her most comprehensive body of work Observance exhibiting in Denmark, France, New Zealand, Birmingham, Leeds and at Dilston Grove in London.
Her work has been selected for numerous international photography festivals including the Nooderlicht festival in Holland, and the Format09 festival in Derby, UK, and published in art and photography magazines such as Next Level, Ojodopez and the British Journal of Photography.
